Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Sue "Crafton" Dilley, class of 1967, was the first woman to be named to the Hall of Fame at Upper Iowa University. Dilley was an outstanding high school athlete at Fayette High School where she was a three-year varsity starter in the basketball program. She also received state and conference recognition for her performances.
Her honors include induction into the 1989 Seton Hall University Athletic Hall of Fame and Coach of the Year honors in 1979 and 1984 in the New Jersey University Division. At Upper Iowa, she played a major role in the women’s recreation program.
She was instrumental in starting women’s programs at the University of Wisconsin at Lacrosse and Seton Hall University. She coached women’s basketball for two years at U.W. Lacrosse and coached for 12 years at Seton Hall (where she started the program). She finished with a coaching record of 193 wins and 118 losses.
Her teams participated in small college and state championships and she instituted full scholarships for women’s basketball at the Division I level (Seton Hall). She is presently the associate director of athletic and recreational services at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
