Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Smith was a wrestling letter winner four times at UIU, the team's most valuable player(1977-1979), a four-time national qualifer, three time Iowa Conference Champion(1976-78), conference runner up (1975) and a NCAA III All-American (1977-78). He compiled a career record of 109-16. Currently he is a coach and teacher at Franklinville Central School, Franklinville, N.Y. He was named the 1991 Tri-County coach of the year as his wrestlers enjoyed the first undefeated season for the school. In his 12 years of coaching wrestling at Franklinville, he has compiled a record of 38-15-1
