Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Kevin Andrew, class of 1978, won eight varsity letters as a student-athlete at Upper Iowa. He was a four-year letterwinner in both football and wrestling. In wrestling, he finished third in the conference in his freshman year, was a 1977 and 1978 IIAC Champion, a 1977 NCAA Division III All-American, a four-time NCAA Division II Qualifier, and UIU team captain in 1977 and 1978.
He won championships in five different tournaments and invitationals (Kohawk, 1976; Luther, 1977; Siouxland, 1977; Upper Iowa, 1976-78; and Wartburg, 1977-78), was named the outstanding wrestler in the 1977 Siouxland Open, was undefeated entering the 1978 NCAA Division III Tournament and was a three-time national quarterfinalist.
The Mechanicsville native and Lincoln High School graduate taught and coached at West Harrison Community School, Mondamin, for two years, and Eddyville Community School for one year following his graduation from Upper Iowa. He is currently the executive director of Centerville-Appanoose Recreation, Inc., and is a recipient of the 1993 Region IV Jaycees Top New Member Award and a 1994 Governor’s Volunteer Award. He and his wife, Dee, have two children, Bronson and Erin.
