Eugene Harvey received a B.A. from Upper Iowa University in 1929, with graduate work at the University of Southern California and the University of Minnesota.

A local Fayette boy, Harvey was prominent in all sports in high school and outstanding in football and basketball. At UIU, under Coach “Doc” Dorman, he lettered all four years in football and basketball and lettered two times in track and baseball. He was captain of the football team in 1928 and 1929. He was voted UIU’s “Most Popular Man” in 1928. Harvey was a high school coach in Preston, Minnesota from 1929 to 1933 and in Sauk Center, Minnesota from 1933 to 1941. Harvey then served for his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Athletic Specialist from 1943 to 1946.

Harvey was an Investigator for the U.S. Immigration Department between the years of 1946 and 1973. In the service, he served with honor and had the distinction of being decorated and presented a  certificate for completing a year of Outstanding Criminal Investigation in the Northwestern Regional Area of Immigration Service. After his retirement, he participated in civic and religious activities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He passed away on March 14, 1983.
