Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Al Seabrooke, class of 1956, had his collegiate career interrupted by a tour of duty in the United States Air Force. He was a baseball letter winner for the Peacocks for three years, was team co-captain, and was catcher for the undefeated 1956 IIAC champions. He was also a starter and letter winner on the UIU basketball team. Following graduation he was a coach and teacher for one year at Victor Independent.
He was a teacher and coach at Valley CEW Community Schools from 1957 until his retirement in 1980. His career baseball coaching record is 245-93(winning pct., .725), with the conference championship team in 1977 and runners-up three years. He was also the head coach of an Upper Iowa Conference championship team in basketball; assistant coach of Upper Iowa Conference championship teams in football; was elected to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association in 1978; and was head coach of the IHSBCA Small School North Team un the second annual All-Star game in 1978.
He was also named to the High School baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1983, and was a member of a number of professional athletic associations.
He and his wife, Janann, a 1964 Upper Iowa graduate, are the parents of two children, Jill and Tim. Tim is a 1992 graduate of Upper Iowa, where he also played baseball.
