Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Frank Kuennen, a member of the class of 1976, came to Upper Iowa University from St. Lucas, Iowa. He was a two-time All-American wrestler – N.A.I.A. in 1975, and N.C.A.A. in 1976. He was named an Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion at 190 lbs. both of those two years. Kuennen was also a letterman in football in 1975.
After graduation, Kuennen spent a tour with the U.S. Army in Korea and was named an All-Army Greco-Roman and Free Style champion and won inter-service championships.
Currently, Kuennen is the owner of Solon Feed Mill, Inc. He and his wife, Sheller (Class of 1975), are the parents of two sons. Together they live in Solon, Iowa.
