Jesse Montalto was inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. The four-year letter winner in football came to Fayette from West Palm Beach, Florida and graduated with a degree in sports communication.

Montalto graduated UIU as one of the most prolific receivers in school history and played the majority of his career as the Peacocks were moving up to NCAA Division II. In his four-year career at Upper Iowa (2001-04), the wide receiver finished with 178 receptions (sixth best all-time) for 2,621 yards (3rd all-time). He also ended with 22 career touchdowns, which is tied for fourth-best all-time. Montalto was a first team All-Independent Football Alliance performer in 2004 after grabbing 59 receptions for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Following his playing career, Montalto coached for nine seasons at Upper Iowa from 2005-13 as wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach working directly with UIU All-conference performers like Dwayne Croker, T.C. Hicks and UIU's all-time leader in 17 quarterback categories Cole Jaeschke. He is currently in his fourth season as the head football coach at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Montalto and his wife, Marcie, have a daughter, Addison, and a son, Brady.
