Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Matt Boehm is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in management.
A transfer to Upper Iowa, the Wadena, Iowa native decided to play football for Coach Paul Rudolph and the Peacocks. Boehm was a two-time selection to the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football team. He was an outstanding linebacker and earned a spot on the All-IIAC second team in 1996 and the first team in 1997. As a junior, Boehm led the team with 13 tackles for loss, 6 quarter-back sacks along with a total of 87 tackles. Although he battled injuries in his senior season, he was a Preseason All-American prior to the 1997 campaign and still earned an All-IIAC first team nod.
A Valley High School graduate, he was named to the Iowa All-State team in 1990 and 1991. After completing his collegiate career, Boehm played semi-professional football in Cedar Rapids, first for the Iowa Tractors and then for the Iowa Stars. Boehm picked up many honors - including first team defensive linemen in the Great Plains Football League and team MVP.
Boehm currently resides in Elgin, Iowa with his wife Amy and his children Abby and Logan.
