Cecil Kelly, class of 1955, was a four-year UIU letter winner and starter in football and track. He was a member of the 1947 and 1948 conference championship teams; received all-conference football honors in 1948 and 1949; and earned Little All-American honors in 1948 in track and in football (honorable mention). Also as a Peacock, he was the 100- and 200-yard champion in the 1950 conference championships. He lettered three years in basketball and played AAU baseball and basketball. His graduation was interrupted by a five-year stint in the U.S. Air Force (1952-57), where he was a noncommissioned officer.

Cecil worked 38 years in the aerospace engineering field: General Electric Company (16 years)m as a design engineer on the USAF intercontinental ballistic missile program and in engineering management for programs such as the Mercury/Gemini and Apollo space programs; Rockwell International Company (17 years), on such projects as the Apollo and Space Transportation System (shuttle Orbiter) programs.

He coached and judged AAU and high school diving for over 17 years and had five Texas state diving champions. He retired from Rockwell International in 1994.

He and his wife, Sharon, live in Seabrook, Texas. They are the parents of Tamara, Danny and Christopher.
