Stan Jack graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1956 with a bachelor’s of Science degree. While at UIU, Jack lettered in baseball four times, and basketball three times. He was an outstanding player and was named co-captain of the 1956 baseball team, which went undefeated.
After graduation from Upper Iowa, Jack coached basketball at Keystone High School. Jack then returned to UIU as head basketball and baseball coach from 1962 to 1971. Impressively, his basketball teams won the Iowa Conference Championship four years in a row from 1963 to 1966. The 1965-66 team won 14 straight Iowa Conference games, setting a school-record. He also coached his baseball team to the Iowa Conference Championship in 1967.
Jack later coached three teams in the National N.A.I.A. Basketball Tournaments, including Upper Iowa in 1965 and 1966 and Southern Utah State College, appearing in the tournament in 1977.
During Jack’s 30-year coaching career, he racked up an eye-popping college record of 404 wins and 227 losses, and a high school record of 90 wins and only 25 losses.
