Brenda Beardsley

Brenda Beardsley is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete.  Beardsley graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in both physical education and recreation. 
 
A four-year starter in volleyball and softball, this talented woman earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 1987 and 1988.  Beardsley was named to the IIAC Second Team in both softball (outfielder) and volleyball in back-to-back years as a junior and senior.  A native of Anamosa, Iowa, she had an outstanding interscholastic career at Anamosa High School.
 
Upon graduation, she was a substitute teacher in the Fayette area relocating to Des Moines in 1991 to start her career in education.  She has spent the last 23 years teaching and coaching in the Des Moines area and currently works in the physical education department at South Middle School in the Waukee Community School District.  Beardsley attained her Master's Degree in education in 2004 and an Administrative License in 2010. 
 
Her love of teaching and coaching has continued since graduating from Upper Iowa.  She now calls West Des Moines, Iowa home.
