Norton earned two NCAA Division II All-American honors thanks to a third-place finish at 174 pounds as a senior in 2010 and a fifth-place finish as a junior in 2009. The Nashua-Plainfield prep qualified for four NCAA Division II Championships thanks to a pair of NCAA Regional Championship titles in 2009 and 2010 and two third-place finishes at the regionals as a freshman and sophomore. Following his freshman campaign, Norton was named the 2007 NSIC Rookie of the Year and added three All-NSIC First Team nods from 2008-10. Over his four years, Norton posted a record of 84-21.

Upper Iowa posted a 43-11 dual meet record over the four years that Norton wrestled on the varsity mat. UIU won the Northern Sun Conference team title three times and placing second in 2008-09. The Peacocks also claimed their first NCAA Division II trophy with a third-place finish in 2010. In addition to Norton’s third-place finish, fellow-Hall of Fame inductee Travis Eggers won the 165-pound NCAA Championship title, Tyler Mumbulo placed second at 125 pounds and Kyle Pedretti placed third at 133 pounds.

Norton works for the Bremer County Highway Department as an operator and farms with his brother and UIU alum Matt. He married his wife and UIU alum Jill (Preeshl) eight years ago; they are the proud parents of their daughter Mabel.
