Jorge Borgen is being inducted into the Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. He was born in Nicaragua, but was raised in Miami, Florida since the age of 3. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in secondary education and industrial tech.
 
Borgen was an All-American Wrestler for the Peacocks and qualified for the NCAA Championships three times at 165 pounds in 1999, 2000 and 2002. During his final run in 2002, Borgen reached the Championship Finals where he finished as the NCAA Division III National Runner-up. He was a part of the highest finish of any Upper Iowa athletic team at a National Championship as UIU claimed second place at the NCAA Division III National Championships. Borgen was coached by Heath Grimm and the late Mike McCready.
 
Borgen graduated from Coral Park Senior High School in 1995; he was a two-time high school wrestling champion. Presently, he is a teacher and head wrestling coach at his alma mater, where he teaches industrial technology and construction engineering for the high school's Magnet Engineering Department. Borgen has been a coach and mentor for a program called Inner City Wrestling for the past ten years. The focus of the program is to get the youth off of the streets and onto the mats.
