Upper Iowa University Athletics Hall of Fame
Jill (Preeshl) Norton was inducted into the Upper Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame as an athlete. Norton graduated from Upper Iowa in 2011 with a degree in education. Norton was a member of the greatest run of Peacock women’s golf during her time in Fayette from 2007-2011.
Norton came to Upper Iowa from Onalaska, Wisconsin and joined Rachael Schmidt and Rochelle (Schmidt) Engels to lead the women’s golf program to a NCAA Super Region III Championship and an eighth-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championships.
As an individual, Norton was named the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 and was tabbed as a 2010 NGCA Division II Honorable Mention All-American. She earned medalist honors at the 2011 NSIC Women’s Golf Championships winning by two strokes over the runner up. Norton capped off all four seasons by competing in the NCAA postseason either as an individual or part of the Peacock team.
Norton currently teaches fifth grade in the Waverly-Shell Rock school district and lives in Waverly, Iowa. She married her husband Mitch, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021, and the pair have a daughter, Mabel, who is five years old.
