MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Peacock women's track and field team continued the indoor season on Saturday at the Hilltop Invitational. Haylie Hutchinson had the best finish individually of the day, taking second in the 60m hurdles.Â
Hutchinson posted a qualifying time of 9.53 seconds in the prelims, tallying her season-best. She then took second with a time of 9.61 seconds. She also ran a time of 8.38 seconds in the 60m dash.Â
The Upper Iowa 4x400m team, consisting of Jillian Dodds, Jasheana Tracey, Eryn Sabelka and Hutchinson, took fourth out of 11 teams with a time of 4:18.22. Tracey added a seventh-place finish in the 400m with a time of 1:05.9, while Sabelka had a time of 1:05.93 in 10th and Cheyanna Thompson-Williams posted a 1:09.71 in 14th.Â
Freshman Aaliyah Comadore ran an 8.29-second 60m to finish in seventh, marking a personal best in her young career. Dodds ran the race in 8.33 seconds and Carolina Regalado ran it in 8.46 seconds. Maya White Eagle debuted for UIU in the 200m with a time of 32.46 seconds. Katie Kraft picked up a personal record in the mile, running it in 6:03.12.Â
In the field events, freshman Naiya Pickett placed 12th in the long jump. She recorded a leap of 4.11m (13' 6"). Dereka Henderson threw the shot put 9.12m (29' 11.25"), and Rio Johnson recorded a personal-best throw of 8.06m (26' 5.5").Â
The Pecocks finished eighth with 18 points. Augustana (Ill.) won the invite, totaling 165 points.Â
UIU keeps the weekly indoor schedule rolling at the Grinnell Invitational next weekend. Action is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.Â
