Peacock women’s track and field finishes season at GLVC Championships

Hutchinson tallies team’s highest placement in 10th at the triple jump

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Upper Iowa women's track and field wrapped up its season at the GLVC Outdoor Championships hosted by Southwest Baptist at Plaster Stadium. Haylie Hutchinson totaled the highest finish of any Peacock in Saturday's triple jump in 10th place. 

The junior tallied a jump of 11.06m (36' 5.30"), her second-best mark of the outdoor season. Hutchinson finished 15th in the 100m hurdles at 15.75 seconds and 12th in the 400m hurdles at 1:06.78. Her time in the 100m hurdles was her best of the season. 

Gracee Tompkins had the next highest finish for any Peacock in 12th at Friday's shot put. The freshman tallied a throw of 11.47m (37' 7.75"). Tompkins took 14th in the discus with a throw of 32.60m (106' 11.5"). That marked her second-best discus throw this season.

Maya White Eagle finished 18th in the javelin at 22.39m (73' 6") and 20th in the shot put at 9.99m (32' 9.5"). Katie Kraft finished 16th in the 300m steeplechase with a time of 13:04.10. Aaliyah Comadore finished 23rd in the long jump at 4.83m (15' 10.25"). 

The Peacock 4x400m team of Eryn Sabelka, Jasheana Tracey, Jillian Dodds and Hutchinson took 10th with a season-best time of 4:07.44. The 4x100m team with Carolina Regalado, Tracey, Dodds and Comadore finished 11th with a season-best mark of 49.68 seconds. 

The conference released the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award team winners, and Hutchinson was the honoree for the Peacocks. She won the award for the indoor season as well. The GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees are student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing while also demonstrating good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Hutchinson is now eligible to become one of UIU's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year. 

Lewis (Ill.) won the meet, capturing its 10th consecutive title on the women's side. The Flyers totaled 154 points. Southwest Baptist (Mo.) took second with 150 points, UIndy took third with 133.5 points and Lincoln (Mo.) finished fourth with 133 points.
