FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock women's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 GLVC) starts GLVC action this weekend. Upper Iowa faces UIndy (0-2-1, 0-1 GLVC) on Friday at 5 p.m. E.T. and then returns to Fayette on Sunday to play Lewis (Ill.) (1-0-3, 0-0-1 GLVC) at noon C.T.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks went 2-0 this past weekend, picking up wins against Southwest Minnesota State (1-2) and Jamestown (N.D.) (0-2). Junior forward Haylie Hutchinson led the Peacocks with 2 assists and a goal, while freshman Sienna Johnson tallied shutouts in both contests.
After 85 scoreless minutes against the Mustangs, freshman Rhea Buchanan found the net with a goal in the 86th minute. Hutchinson made a great pass to Buchanan from midfield, where Buchanan got the ball up to the 15-yard line and knocked it in.
Johnson made four saves in the game as UIU was outshot, 14-4. This marked head coach Patrick Ritter's first win with the Peacock program.
Both of Upper Iowa's goals against the Jimmies came in the first half. Hutchinson found Haylee Allen in the 16th minute on a crosser in the middle of the field, with Allen diving to redirect the ball and knock it in. The junior forward then scored herself after getting a rebound off a shot by Jessica Ancheta.
Johnson totaled eight saves to pick up her third shutout of the season. The Peacocks were outshot 14-9, but made the most of their opportunities on the two great looks to score.
GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Johnson earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week after her shutouts and 12 total saves. This marked the program's first GLVC Player of the Week for women's soccer, and the first conference player of the week since 2022.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Buchanan leads the team in goals with two this season, tying for the fifth-most in the conference. Hutchinson's team-high two assists are in a six-way tie for first in the GLVC.
Johnson has an 80.8% save percentage this season with three shutouts. She ranks fifth in the conference in save percentage and in saves per game (5.25). Her 21 total saves is third in the GLVC and 31st in the nation.
AROUND THE GLVC
UIU is the only team in the GLVC that has yet to play a conference game. No. 14 Maryville (Mo.) (3-0-1, 1-0 GLVC) moved up eight spots this week in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll.
Missouri S&T (3-1, 1-0 GLVC) and Truman State (Mo.) (1-1-1, 1-0 GLVC) are the two other teams with conference wins. Lewis (Ill.) (1-0-3, 0-0-1 GLVC) and McKendree (Ill.) (0-0-4. 0-0-1 GLVC) have yet to lose a game this season.
ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS - Friday at 4 p.m. E.T.
UIndy is seeking its first win of the season against the Peacocks on Friday. The Greyhounds tied with Ferris State (Mich.) (0-1-3), 0-0, in the season opener. They have since suffered losses to Thomas More (Ky.) (1-3), 2-1, and this past weekend against Truman State, 3-2.
Uindy has had three different players score goals: junior Karoline Bachelder, freshman Ellie Higbie and graduate Izzie Wallace. Senior goalkeeper Kendall Ellis has allowed five goals with 12 saves. She has a 70.6% save percentage.
Head coach Kelli Beheler is in her third season with the Grehounds. She was a standout player at Illinois State, earning Missouri Valley Conference First Team honors in 2016 and 2017. She has a 12-19-7 record with the Greyhounds entering this weekend.
ABOUT THE FLYERS - Sunday at noon
The Flyers opened their season with a win over Roosevelt (Ill.) (2-1), 3-2, before tying with Wisconsin-Parkside (0-3-1), Purdue Northwest (Ind.) (2-0-2) and Quincy (Ill.) (1-1-2). Roosevelt is UIU's lone loss this season.
Senior Breanna Culver leads Lewis with two goals this season. Senior Morgan Krupp, sophomore Anna Larson, sophomore Maggie Maher and freshman Cali Rucka have also scored goals for the Flyers. Sophomore Josie Graziosi has played three games at goalkeeper for the Flyers. She has a 66.7% save percentage, allowing three goals and making six saves.
Chris Koenig is in his 19th season with the Flyers. He has a 129-136-39 record with coaching at Lewis. The matchup with the Peacocks is the Flyers' only game this weekend.
