FAYETTE, Iowa - Peacock women's soccer (0-3-2, 0-3 GLVC) dropped its third conference contest to McKendree (Ill.) (6-1, 2-1 GLVC) on Saturday afternoon at Harms-Eischeid Stadium. Sophomore goalkeeper Avery Harding totaled a career-high 17 saves in the loss, the second-most in a game in program history.
McKendree was led by Aubrey Andrews with a hat trick, scoring goals in the 20th, 36th and 78th minutes. Lyla Karolczak added the two other goals in the 22nd and 81st minutes. Maddie Mauch had two assists for the Bearcats.
Giovanna Alexa Garcia and Natsha Toxqui each put shots on goal for UIU, both in the second half. Mimi Moore had a shot in the second half, and Alyssa Torres had UIU's lone shot in the first half.
Harding's 17 saves ties Isabelle Wagner for the second-most in program history. Sara Besaw holds the program record with 42 in 2003. Wagner posted her 17-save game against Maryville (Mo.) last season.
McKendree outshot Upper Iowa 32-4 with a 22-2 advantage on goal. The Bearcats had four corner kicks to UIU's one. Each team had nine fouls.
Stephany Castillo and Abigayle Bates each played 90 minutes. 21 different Peacocks saw action in the game.
UIU returns to Harms-Eischeid Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m. against Lincoln (Mo.) (1-3, 0-2 GLVC). The Blue Tigers face Southwest Baptist (Mo.) on Sunday.
