FAYETTE, Iowa - UIU women's soccer (0-0-2) heads to Rolla, Missouri, to match up with Missouri S&T (1-1) on Friday at 5 p.m.

The Peacocks drew both of their last two contests. The team drew, 2-2, with Roosevelt (Ill.) (0-0-2) and, 1-1, with Southwest Minnesota State (0-1-1).
On Thursday, Upper Iowa trailed the Lakers 2-0 until the 86th minute, when Haylie Hutchinson dropped the ball towards Maryn Hudson, who headed the ball into the net for the Peacocks' first goal. A minute later, Giovanna Alexa Garcia passed the ball from 30 yards out to Hutchinson for the team's second goal, tying the game 2-2.
In Sunday's contest against the Mustangs, Hudson gave UIU a 1-0 lead during the 24th minute after knocking the ball in the net off a pass from Hutchinson. Southwest Minnesota State answered in the 71st minute with the equalizer.
Hutchinson finished the week with three shots, one on goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Avery Harding finished the game against SMSU with 12 saves. She totaled four saves against RU. Hudson totaled three shots, two on goal and two goals.
Kea Cabanilla-Ku had a shot on goal and an assist. Aeryn Hatico posted four shots, with one on goal. Rhea Buchanan boasted two shots on goal, while Alexa Garcia boasted one shot and an assist.
GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hutchinson earned the program's first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award after her one-goal, two-assist performance. She becomes the second player to earn a GLVC weekly honor for the program, joining teammate Sienna Johnson earning the defensive award last season on Sept. 15, 2025.
AROUND THE GLVC
McKendree (Ill.) (3-0) has the best record in the GLVC so far, while Rockhurst (Mo.) (1-0-1) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (1-0-1) each have a win. Upper Iowa and Quincy (Ill.) (0-0-2) each drawed over the opening week.
Based on the IWSOC Coaches Poll, McKendree is ranked No. 22 and Missouri-St. Louis is ranked No. 25. McKendree was unranked in the preseason poll, while Missouri-St. Louis (0-1-1) was ranked No. 9. UMSL lost 5-0 to Pittsburg State (Kan.) (2-0) and tied with Washburn (Mo.) (1-0-1), 1-1.
ABOUT THE MINERS
Missouri S&T split its first two games of the season, 1-1. S&T lost, 1-0, to Central Missouri (2-0) last Thursday and then won, 3-2, against Missouri Southern (1-1).
Adrianna Benassi, an All-GLVC First Team selection in 2025, has scored two of the team's three goals on six shots. Redshirt junior Aubrey Case has the other goal along with an assist. Senior forward Jenna Marti also has an assist. Junior goalkeeper Catie Riddle had seven saves in the win over the Lions.
Elliot Chadderton is entering his first season as the head coach of the Miners. He previously coached the Neosho County Community College men's soccer team, where he won five conference championships and a 2024 NJCAA Division II National runner-up finish.
UP NEXT
Upper Iowa plays on the road against Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The team then heads home to face McKendree on Saturday, Sept. 12, and then Lincoln (Mo.) (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
