INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Upper Iowa women's cross country team was picked 14th in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Preseason Poll. The Peacocks received 26 points in the poll, one behind Quincy (Ill.) in 13th.
Head coach Nate Rucker enters his 14th season as the head women's cross country coach. Eryn Sabelka, Upper Iowa's top runner at last year's conference championships, returns for her senior season. The Peacocks also return Jaydin Dettman, Rio Johnson and Tessa Lopardo from last season's squad.
Lewis (Ill.) was picked first in the poll with 169 points and 13 first-place votes. Lewis won the GLVC Championship last season, with its top seven runners taking a sweep in the top seven spots.
Southwest Baptist (Mo.) came in second with 149 points and the final first-place vote. Illinois Springfield came in third place with 140 points, and Truman State (Mo.) was fourth with 132 votes.
The Peacocks start the season on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Luther College's 52nd All-American Invitational in Decorah, Iowa.
The 2025 GLVC Championships will take place in Romeoville, Illinois, on Oct. 25 at the Lewis Cross Country Course.
