Box Score Upper Iowa's first road game of the season has concluded with a 3-0 loss to the Bemidji State Beavers.
The Peacocks started ten players who have been a part of their starting XI at least once this season, while freshman midfielder
Haylee Allen made the first collegiate start of her career. The first half was highlighted by sophomore goalkeeper
Isabelle Wagner making her first three saves of the game in the 18
th, 20
th and 24
th minute. She was unable to continue this streak as freshman midfielder Ella Wade crossed a corner kick to teammate, sophomore forward Sylve Waters in the 34
th minute who headed her second shot on goal into the back of the net. The Peacocks were unable to answer with a shot on goal of their own and they entered the half with a one goal deficit.
Bemidji State maintained the majority of the possession at the start of the second half attempting two shots that were both off target three minutes into the game. A costly turnover by the Peacocks in the 49
th minute led to Bemidji State's second goal of the game which was scored by freshman midfielder Kenzie Harer and assisted by sophomore forward Katrina Barthelt. The Beavers followed this up with another steal that led to a great shot on goal, but an even better save by Wagner for her fourth of the game just two minutes later. Barthelt would later dribble past the Peacocks in the 55
th minute shooting into the left corner of the net for her second goal of the game. Bemidji State nearly found the back of the net again as they attempted a shot from outside the box in the 70
th minute, but Wagner made a phenomenal one-handed save.
UIU was on the offensive in the 73
rd minute as they took multiple corner kicks but were unable to get past the defense. They followed this up with a free kick by junior defender
Katrina Kazluski who launched a shot on goal which was saved. Bemidji State answered with back-to-back shots on goal in the 75
th and 76
th minute, but Wagner made a diving save and another one-handed save. After dishing out the first assist of the game, Wade was able to head a shot on goal in the 81
st minute, which was easily saved by Wagner giving her nine saves on the night. The game would end with a final score of 0-3 as it just wasn't the Peacocks night. Alongside Wagner and Kazluski, junior midfielder

The Peacocks will stay in Bemidji this weekend as they will play a neutral site match against Minnesota Crookston on Sunday, Sep. 10 at 12 p.m.
