Peacocks Duel With South Dakota Schools in Weekend Matches

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK TENNIS… The Upper Iowa tennis team heads back to Winona, Minn. for two new conference matches this week. UIU heads to the Winona Tennis Center to take on Augustana University on Friday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. and Sioux Falls on Saturday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m. 
 
PEACOCK HUE REVIEW… Upper Iowa tennis completed their first match of the weekend at the University of Minnesota Duluth, falling in a 5-2 decision. After losing the doubles competition, the Peacocks gained some momentum as they won the first two singles matches. However they could not keep the rhythm going as they dropped the rest of the matches they participated in that day. Upper Iowa fell to 0-6 in the NSIC.
 
Upper Iowa tennis participated in their second match of the weekend as they dropped to St. Cloud in a 6-1 decision. The Peacocks picked up one win in the singles competition, but were defeated in all of their other duals that day. Upper Iowa dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-7 in the NSIC.
 
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS… Augustana is leading the conference with a 7-0 NSIC mark and an overall 13-2 record. They defeated Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston 7-0 in their most recent matches. As a whole, the team has mustered up a .823 win percentage in the singles competition. The Vikings have an athlete with the highest win percentage in the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
 
SCOUTING THE COUGARS… Sioux Falls holds a 9-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the conference, notching them in sixth place in the NSIC. They most recently trumped Minnesota Crookston (6-1) and Bemidji State (5-2). Katelyn Nesheim has won her last seven matches, bringing her to an overall 7-3 record on the season. Their team has an overall win percentage of .532. 

DOWN THE ROAD… The Peacocks see action in just one matchup next week as they step away from conference play to take on GLVC affiliate, Truman State. Their contest is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5 in Kirksville, Mo. at 2 p.m.
