Box Score Upper Iowa tennis competed in their first match of the weekend at the University of Minnesota Duluth, falling in a 5-2 decision. After losing the doubles competition, the Peacocks gained some momentum as they won the first two singles matches. However they could not keep the rhythm going as they dropped the rest of the matches they participated in that day. Upper Iowa fell to 0-6 in the NSIC and Minnesota Duluth improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC.
UMD breezed through the doubles competition to start things off. Their No. 1 duo of Mallory Lithun and Shay Callaway defeated
Johanne Vallee and Rafaela Tavares 6-0.. UIU's No. 2 crew of
Varvara Ogorodnikova and
Alex Garcia put up a tough effort, but fell to their opponents 6-4. The Bulldogs won the third after the Peacocks forfeited due to lack of available players.Â
Ogorodnikova started off the singles competition with a victory for Upper Iowa as she defeated her opponent 6-7-4, 7-5, 7-10. Vallee kept things going in the No. 2 slot as she downed her fellow competitor in a final result of 6-1, 6-1. Upper Iowa was unable to pick up another victory on the day after those two duals. Tavares fell 6-3, 6-0 in the No. spot, O-Brian was defeated 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot, and
Alex Garcia was trumped 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.
