Upper Iowa to Wrap First Full Lacrosse Season with Two Games

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK LACROSSE… Upper Iowa (0-9, 0-7 GLIAC) will close out their first full season of competition this week with a non-conference home match against Quincy University and a final GLIAC road game at Concordia University, St. Paul. The Peacocks will face off with the Hawks on Tuesday in Harms-Eischeid Stadium at 3 p.m. and the Golden Bears on Friday in St. Paul, Minn. at 6 p.m.

Q UP THE HAWKS... Quincy controlled the season opener scoring a 28-4 decision. The Hawks scored eight goals in the first period, seven in the second and third frames and added six in the final fifteen minutes, while Upper Iowa scratched the scoreboard once in the second quarter, twice in the third and one final time in the fourth quarter. Maya Chesky led the Peacocks with three goals on seven shots. Freshman Morgynn Spears scored a goal as well and added an assist on one of Chesky's goals. Danielle Robinson scored 12 goals to lead the Hawks connecting on 15 shots for an impressive 80% conversion rate. Bianca Johnson added six goals and an assist on eight shots, while Patricia Chavira added four goals and two assists on six shots.
 
BEAR WARNING... Concordia-St. Paul earned a 23-2 win in Fayette in early April. CSP grabbed an 11-0 lead at the first quarter horn and pushed their shutout to claimed a 10-0 lead after the first quarter and ran their consecutive scores to 15-0. Maya Chesky broke the run with an unassisted goal with three minutes to play in the first half. The Golden Bears added one more goal in the final minute to take a 16-1 lead into the break at halftime. Bailee Fabert scored UIU's second goal of the game to open the scoring in the third quarter. Concordia-St. Paul closed the game out with three scores in the third and four more in the final frame for the 23-2 win. Izzy Kaczik made five saves in the contest for UIU. Molly Moynihan recorded nine points thanks to three goals and six assists.

PEACOCK LEADERS… Upper Iowa has scored 30 goals in their nine matches this season on 92 shots as they average 10.2 attempts per game. The Peacocks have allowed 211 goals (23.4/game) in their first full season on the turf. Chesky is pacing the offense with 17 points on 15 goals and a pair of assists, while Spears has registered 10 points thanks to eight goals and two assists. Fabert has scored five times and has an assist as well, while McKenzie Mohlencamp has scored twice and handed out an assist. Kaczik has made 78 saves (8.7/game) in goal for the Peacocks through nine games.
