Peacocks Set to Tangle with No. 23 Panthers and No. 10 Lakers on the Road

THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK LACROSSE… Upper Iowa (0-3, 0-1 GLIAC) is back on the road this weekend for a pair of games in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Friday and Sunday, Mar. 25 and 27. The Peacocks will take on a pair of nationally-ranked foes in No. 23 Davenport University (7-1, 0-0 GLIAC) on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before taking on No. 10 Grand Valley State University (8-1, 0-0 GLIAC) on Sunday at 11 a.m.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS… Upper Iowa has scored 15 goals in their three games this season with four assists. The Peacocks have placed 77.3% of their shot attempts on frame and are averaging 14.7 shots a game. Opponents have scored 74 goals with 18 assists on 46.7 shot attempts per contest. Maya Chesky and Morgynn Spears are leading the Peacocks with seven points apiece this season. Chesky has six goals and an assist, while Spears has scored five goals and handed out two assists. Bailee Fabert and McKenzie Mohlencamp have scored two goals each, while Fabert has one assist on the year. Izzy Kaczik has recorded 33 saves in the net for UIU with her high-mark of 14 coming at Missouri Western State University.
 
SCOUTING THE NO. 23 PANTHERS… Davenport, who is currently ranked No. 23 in the IWLCA Division II Top 25, enters the match with a 7-1 record with their only loss coming at No. 2 University of Indianapolis in early March. The Panthers opened their season with three wins including a 20-5 win at Quincy University and have won four matches since their loss to UIndy. DU is scoring 19.3 goals per game and 79.1% of their shots have been on goal. Anna Glynn is the team's top offensive player with 61 points behind 48 goals and 13 assists, while Ayanna Turrubiates has 49 points with 48 goals and one assist. In goal, Maisy Latus leads the way with 46 saves and 59 goals allowed (7.4/game).
 
SCOUTING THE NO. 10 LAKERS… Grand Valley State, currently ranked No. 10 in the IWLCA Division II Top 25, comes into the weekend with an 8-1 record. GVSU also has a loss to UIndy as their only mark against them this season. The Lakers are on a six-game win streak and have outscored their opponents 131-60 this season. Grand Valley State is averaging 14.6 goals per game, while allowing 6.6 to their opponents. The Lakers are led by a trio of scorers in the form of Sophie Conroy (26 goals), Molly Bursinger (23) and Olivia Esposito (19), who have combined for 68 goals this season. In the net, Audrey Maloney has spent the most time and collected 49 saves for a 9.0 per game average.

UP NEXT… The Peacocks will return home to Harms-Eisheid Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 2 and welcome the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul for another GLIAC contest beginning at 6 p.m.
