THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK TENNIS... The Upper Iowa University women's tennis team will wrap up their season with NSIC duals in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Apr. 17 and 18. The Peacocks face #25 Augustana University (S.D.) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 17 before facing the University of Sioux Falls at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Apr. 18.
 
LAST TIME ON THE COURT... The Peacocks fell in their previous two NSIC duals against St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth. On Apr. 9 against St. Cloud, Upper Iowa fell by a score of 6-1. Varvara Ogorodnikova and Lina Ziani picked up a win at No. 2 doubles to win for the fourth straight time, and Ogorodnikova picked up the Peacocks' lone point to win her fourth straight No. 2 singles match. Against Minnesota Duluth on Apr. 10, the Peacocks fell 7-0. Ogorodnikova and Ziani continued their impressive run at No. 2 doubles with their fifth straight win as a pair, but UIU was unable to secure a point in the dual.

VANQUISHING THE VIKINGS… The Vikings of Augustana University (S.D.) have compiled a record of 13-2 (9-0 NSIC) on the year and are ranked 25th in the Oracle/ITA Division II women's rankings. The Vikings are led by Valeriya Monko as she holds a 13-1 (7-0 NSIC) record in No. 1 singles matches. Florentia Hadjigeorgiou is 10-2 in No. 2 singles and 1-0 in the No. 1 spot. Monko and Hadjigeorgiou have also combined to go 13-2 (7-1 NSIC) as a No. 1 doubles pair for Augustana. The freshman duo is ranked No. 9 nationally in the Oracle/ITA Division II women's rankings for doubles.

COMPETING WITH THE COUGARS... The Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls carry a record of 6-4 (6-3 NSIC) into the weekend. USF picked up wins over Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston their last time out, and is scheduled to play SMSU ahead of their dual with UIU. The Cougars are led by sisters Joelle and Daniell Thorfinnson, as Joelle is 1-1 in No. 2 an 3 singles and 4-1 in No. 5 singles (6-3 overall) while Daniell is 5-2 in No. 4 singles action (5-3 overall). In doubles play, the Cougar pair of Megan Quandt and Talia Janos lead the team with a 4-2 (4-1 NSIC) record in No. 1 doubles matches.

LOOKING AHEAD… The spring regular season is over for NSIC tennis, but the 2021 NSIC Tennis Tournament begins on Apr. 23. The top eight teams in the conference make the cut and will participate in the two-day tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D.
