This Week in Peacock Tennis… Upper Iowa plays host to the Beavers of Bemidji State University and the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28 in Winona, Minn. The Peacocks (0-2) are coming off a pair of losses to open their season against the University of Mary and Minnesota State University Moorhead in Fargo, N.D.

Taking a Look Back… The Peacocks dropped both matches last weekend by 7-0 scores, but Upper Iowa hung tough with both opponents in Fargo. The weekend matches were highlighted by a win at No. 1 doubles against the Dragons of MSU Moorhead.

Lina Ziani teamed up for a 6-3 victory over Julia Geske and Lorissa Yuen on Sunday morning.
Scouting the Competition… The BSU Beavers are 2-5 this season with wins over Minnesota Crookston (7-0) and Minnesota State University, Mankato (7-0). Last weekend, Bemidji State split their duals thanks to the win over the Mavericks and a close 4-3 loss to Southwest Minnesota State University. When fans are looking for comparable opponents this season, they don't have to look farther than UMary and MSU Moorhead. The Beavers fell to the Maruaders by a 4-3 score and to the Dragons by a 5-2 count. The UMC Golden Eagles are 0-5 on the season with all five losses coming by 7-0 scores. Minnesota Crookston is led by Tasha Achermann and Michelle Swyter, who play No. 1 and No. 2 singles and combine for the No. 1 doubles team.

Up Next… The Peacocks will take a break from conference action next weekend and stay close to home. Upper Iowa will play the NCAA Division I Panthers of the University of Northern Iowa on Friday, Mar. 5 and then take on the Pride of Purdue University-Northwest on Saturday, Mar. 6. Both matches will take place in Cedar Falls.
