LAST WEEKEND IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S SOCCER... Upper Iowa dropped a pair of heartbreaking matches as their opponents scored late in each contest to put the Peacocks away. On Friday against a tough, 10-win Augustana University team on their home turf, the Peacocks held the Vikings scoreless through 84 minutes. In the first half, the teams tied for shots with seven, but the Peacocks held a 4-3 advantage in both shots on goal and corner kicks through the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the Vikings claimed a 12-3 shot advantage that included a 7-0 margin in shots on goal and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the UIU defense held firm for the majority of the match. It was not until the 84:50 mark that the Vikings managed to convert a goal, and they clinched the 2-0 shutout win after tacking on another late goal at the 87:08 mark.

On Sunday's Senior Day against Wayne State College, the Peacocks looked to be in control early as they thwarted multiple attacks from WSC while converting their own attacks into dangerous corner kicks. One of Upper Iowa's best offensive looks of the match came off of a corner kick in the ninth minute as Leah Willenbring played a perfect ball into the box that found the feet of both Toni Powsey and Katie Samuels. Powsey put a low shot on goal that was saved by the WSC keeper, but Samuels was whistled for a foul just before putting in the shot after the rebound. Despite numerous strong offensive pushes by the Peacocks combined with a stout defensive effort, the score remained 0-0 through the first 90 minutes as the Peacocks and Wildcats went to overtime. In overtime, Upper Iowa opened the action by earning a corner kick in the 93rd minute. The Peacocks were unable to set up a set piece score and had a shot from Katrina Kazluski soar high, and the look would prove to by UIU's last of the match. The Peacocks shut down a WSC corner in the 95th minute and forced an off-target shot from a Wildcat in the 96th minute, but Wayne State broke free late in the 97th minute and scored the golden goal at the 96:44 mark to claim a 1-0 win.
