The Upper Iowa women and men's cross country teams returned to competition on Saturday at the Seminole Valley Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy University.

The Upper Iowa women and men's cross country teams returned to competition on Saturday at the Seminole Valley Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy University.

The meet took place at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and featured other teams from 13 different schools on the women's side and 14 schools on the men's side.

As a team, the Upper Iowa women took 7th place in the 5K race with an average time of 20:57. The men's team would go on to finish in 12th place in the 8K race with an average time of 29:09.

On the women's side, Brianna Crouch finished in 8th place individually with a time of 19:39.1.  Madison Brownrigg also finished inside the top 20, taking 15th place with a time of 20:08.  Ashley Donovan. (20:49.1), Macey White (22:02), Jadyn Schultz (22:10.7), Jade Martin (25:28.9), and Delaney Miller (26:34.4) also contributed to the team score.

For the men's team, Dalton Baker placed 20th overall and paced the Peacocks with a time of 27:05.6. He was followed by Nathan Goranson (27:46.8), Bryce Baker (29:44.8), David Snider (29:52.4), Grant Dieken (31:20.3), and Brady Johnston (31:42.5).

"It was a great team effort on the women's side today.  We are starting to run well at the right time.  Brianna had a huge run today to finish in the top eight.  Madison Brownrigg had her best race of the season and Ashley Donovan is coming on strong at the right time," said Head Coach Nate Rucker.

"As for the men, I'm happy with the way they ran.  Despite being down one of our top five runners, I feel like we performed well in the final tune up before conference.  Dalton stepped up to deliver a solid performance today and I'm looking for big things from him in two weeks."

Up next, both teams will look to test themselves against the best in the conference when they compete in the NSIC Championships in Wayne, Nebraska on October 23.
