The Upper Iowa lacrosse team and Head Coach
Erin Doherty has earned the commitment of Morgynn Spears, who signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers in Fayette. Spears is in her final year at Monticello High School in Monticello, Minn.

Prior to her junior season (2020) being cancelled, the 5-6 attacker placed in the top 20 in scoring across Minnesota high schools as a sophomore thanks to 37 goals and 19 assists. Monticello finished the 2019 season in third place in their conference and went 1-1 in the Minnesota State Tournament. Spears works hard in the classroom resulting in academic all-conference honors three times and membership in the National Honor Society.

"The minute I saw Morgynn play and spoke to her, I knew she embodied what we are all about with Peacock lacrosse," said Doherty. "She is a talented and humble player, who is also a great teammate. We are excited to have her on this team and cannot wait to see how successful she will be as a Peacock!"

The Peacock lacrosse team worked on the field at Harms-Eischeid Stadium and in the weight room this fall. The program played in their inaugural contest last March, but had their season fall victim to the pandemic. The team is working toward a full season this spring in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference; a spring schedule has not been released yet.
