This Weekend in Peacock Tennis… The Upper Iowa tennis team returns to the courts in Winona, Minn. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24 for a pair of Northern Sun Conference matches against the University of Sioux Falls and Augustana University. The Peacocks enter the weekend with a 1-3 NSIC record this spring, while the Cougars are 2-2 in the conference and the Vikings are 4-0 against NSIC foes and 6-0 overall. Both USF and Augustana scored a pair of wins against Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Crookston last weekend.

UIU Splits in St. Cloud… The Peacock tennis team split last weekend's duals against a pair of Northern Sun Conference foes in St. Cloud, Minn. Upper Iowa defeated the host Huskies of St. Cloud State University 4-3 on Saturday, but dropped a 5-2 decision to the Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth on Sunday.

Maryke Badenhorst both posted 4-0 records over the weekend teaming up to claim a pair of No. 1 doubles matches and then each winning their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Lavanya Singh both won singles matches on Saturday to aid in UIU's victory.

Scouting the Cougars… The Cougars evened their NSIC record at 2-2 with a 4-1 win over Bemidji State and a 6-1 win over Minnesota Crookston last weekend. The two losses came in Bismarck, N.D. to Minnesota State University Moorhead (7-0) and the University of Mary (4-3). Chloe Jefferies is USF's No. 1 in singles and has a 1-2 early-season record. The Cougars have used three different combinations at No. 1 doubles registering a 2-2 combined record.

Scouting the Vikings… The Vikings scored a pair of wins last weekend by scores of 5-0 over Minnesota Crookston and 4-0 over Bemidji State pushing their NSIC win streak to 103 games. Kornelia Staniszewska leads the team at No. 1 singles with a 4-0 record and pairs with Laura Arce Vieyra at No. 1 doubles to post a 4-0 mark as well.
