The Peacock tennis team lost their dual against the Huskies of St. Cloud State University 8-1 in Winona, Minn. on Friday night. Upper Iowa picked up their win at No. 1 singles, but St. Cloud State secured the dual win with a pair of doubles victories, four singles wins and a pair of UIU forfeits.
 
With the decision, St. Cloud State improved to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Northern Sun, while UIU falls to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC.
 
Alexie Portz and Quintino dos Santos paired up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Shakhnaza Zhanatova and Anna Okolot 8-3, while Emma Hanegraf and Samantha Fitzpatrick took down Lara Peco and Lavanya Singh at No. 2 doubles 8-6. UIU forfeited No. 3 doubles as SCSU took an early 3-0 lead.
 
UIU's sole win in the dual came behind Zhanatova at No. 1 singles. Zhanatova defeated Portz 6-2, 6-2. Okolot (No. 2) and Peco (No. 3) lost their singles matches, and Singh withdrew for an injury at No. 4. Breanna Heichert lost the No. 5 singles match to Ann Marie White 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. The final point in the match went to SCSU due to a forfeit for UIU at No. 6 singles.
 
Upper Iowa will face off with the University of Minnesota Duluth in Winona, Minn. on Saturday, Feb. 24.
