The Peacock tennis team (1-5, 1-3 NSIC) dropped a pair of Northern Sun Conference duals this weekend in Owatonna, Minn. Upper Iowa lost a 6-3 decision to the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday night and a 7-2 result to the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sunday afternoon.
 
Shakhnaza Zhanatova and Anna Okolot both went 3-1 over the weekend. The pair teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles against SMSU, but lost a close 9-8 (7-2) match at No. 1 doubles to Erin Streeter and Monika Ryan of Minnesota State.
 
Both players went 2-0 in singles competition. Zhanatova picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win against SMSU and a 6-4, 6-1 win versus MSU at No. 1. Okolot defeated her Mustang opponent 6-4, 7-5 and the Maverick player 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2.
 
Lara Peco and Lavanya Singh paired at No. 2 doubles but lost a pair of 8-4 decisions in both duals. Against SMSU, Peco forced a third set at No. 4 singles and both Peacocks claimed one set in their matches at No. 3 and No. 4 against the Mavericks.
 
UIU forfeited No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles in both duals.
 
Upper Iowa will head to Winona, Minn. to host St. Cloud State University on Friday, Feb. 23 and the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, Feb. 24.
