The Peacock tennis team got back on the court in Winona, Minn. this evening and defeated the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls 8-1. With the Northern Sun Conference win, Upper Iowa improved to 7-3 overall and 7-1 in the NSIC. USF now has a record of 7-6 overall and a 3-5 mark in the conference.
 
Upper Iowa claimed all three doubles matches including a pair of 8-3 decisions at No. 1 and 2 and an 8-6 win at No. 3.
 
Isabella Sella claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Shakhnaza Zhanatova followed suit at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Jemina Linn Sorman posted a victory at No. 3, but needed a tiebreaker third set to earn the point for UIU; Sorman won 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).
 
The Peacocks collected two more victories at No. 4 with Kelly Jachymowski (6-4, 6-3) and at No. 5 with Anna Okolot (7-5, 6-2).
 
USF's lone victory came at No. 6 singles when Cortney McCans defeated Breanna Heichert (6-1, 6-3).
 
Upper Iowa will remain in Winona, Minn. and take the court against the NSIC's top team on Sunday. The Peacocks will take on the Vikings of Augustana University at 9 a.m.
