Drake 6 - Upper Iowa 1

The Peacock tennis team traveled down to Des Moines, Iowa to take on NCAA Division I opponent, the Bulldogs of Drake University (8-5). Upper Iowa (6-3, 6-1 NSIC) dropped a 6-1 decision at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

Drake got the day going by claiming the doubles point by winning the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles 6-0 and 6-4. Isabella Sella and Linn Sorman dropped a 6-0 decision followed by Kelly Jachymowski and Shakhnaza Zhanatova falling 6-4. Once the two wins were claimed, the Bulldogs led 1-0 heading into the singles action.

In singles, every Peacock moved up a spot with two-time NSIC Player of the Week Isabella Sella resting. Zhanatova, Sorman, Jachymowski, Anna Okolot, and Breanna Heichert all lost in straight sets, but the team won by default at No. 6 singles to claim their lone point of the day.

The Peacocks will travel up to Winona, Minn. on April 1-2 to take on the Sioux Falls Cougars and Augustana Vikings in their return to NSIC play. UIU is 6-1 in league play this season, and will take on USF at 4 p.m. before facing Augustana at 9 a.m. the next day.
