The Peacock tennis team opened their spring season in Winona, Minn. and scored a 9-0 shutout against the University of Minnesota Crookston. Head Coach Leo Millet earned his first career victory as Upper Iowa claimed all three doubles and all six singles matches.
 
Isabella Sella and Linn Sorman teamed up to pick up an 8-3 victory at #1 doubles, while Kelly Jachymowski and Shakhnaza Zhanatova teamed up for an 8-1 win at #2 doubles. Anna Okolot and Breanna Heichert pitched a shutout for the 8-0 victory at #3 doubles.
 
Upper Iowa was dominant in singles action combining to win 66 of the 67 games played.  The lone game win for the Golden Eagles came in the second set of #1 singles, but Sella prevailed 6-0, 6-1.  Zhanatova, Sorman, Jachymowski, Okolot and Heichert all won in straight sets without surrendering a game to their opponent.
 
The Peacocks will be back on the courts in Winona, Minn. on Sunday to take on the Beavers of Bemidji State University.
