With an 8-1 victory over the University of Mary Marauders on Sunday, the Peacock tennis team finished the regular season with a 11-8 record overall and a 10-1 mark in the Northern Sun, securing the No. 2 seed for the NSIC tournament and a chance to share the conference title with Augustana if the Vikings lose their final match against Sioux Falls next weekend. It's the fourth time Upper Iowa has finished second (2009, 2011, 2015) since winning the Northern Sun Conference title in 2008.

Upper Iowa started the day by nearly sweeping all three doubles matches. Saki Kawabata and Isabella Sella took down the No. 1 doubles tandem from U-Mary 8-0, while Kelly Jachymowski and Anna Okolot took care of business at No. 2 and won 8-4. The No. 3 doubles match came down to a tiebreaker, which U-Mary won 7-3 for its lone victory on the day.

Kawabata and Sella each had 6-4, 6-2 wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, while Jachymowski and Jemina Linn Sorman won their matches at No. 3 and No. 4 with sets of 6-3 and 6-1. Upper Iowa's No. 5 and 6 players, Okolot and Julia Prokopyshyn, surrendered just two games each in their victories as UIU swept the singles matches. 

Upper Iowa will take a week off before heading to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships in Lake Minnetonka, Minn. on April 23-24. The Peacocks will be the two-seed in NSIC tournament.
