The Peacock tennis team got a chance to take on some of the best tennis teams in the state on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 25-26.  Upper Iowa dropped a pair of duals to NCAA Division I institutions after facing the University of Northern Iowa (7-0) and Drake University (4-0).
 
Against UNI, Upper Iowa was defeated in all three doubles matches (6-2, 6-4 and 6-2) to surrender the doubles point to the Panthers.  Isabella Sella forced a third set tiebreaker at #2 singles before falling to Elvira Lopez 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4).  The other five matches all went in straight sets, but four of the five remaining Peacock players won at least three games in their respective matches.
 
The Bulldogs of Drake took matches at #1 and #2 doubles on Saturday by 6-2 and 6-1 counts to claim the doubles point without a third doubles match being played.  In singles competition, Drake claimed wins at #2, #3 and #4 to secure the final three points needed for victory.  Matches at #1 and #5 went unfinished and the match at #6 never got started.
 
Upper Iowa (8-7, 7-0 NSIC) will return to Northern Sun Conference play where they are undefeated with a 7-0 mark. The Peacocks will take on the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, Apr. 2, and Augustana University on Sunday, Apr.3. Both duals will take place in Sioux Falls, S.D.
