The Peacock tennis team (8-5, 7-0 NSIC) claimed a 9-0 win over the Warriors of Winona State University (2-7, 2-5 NSIC) on Saturday to snap a four-match losing streak.  The dual marked a return to play in the Northern Sun Conference and the victory kept Upper Iowa undefeated in the conference with a 7-0 mark.  UIU improved to 5-8 all-time against Winona State while claiming their second straight and third in four tries against the Warriors.

Upper Iowa swept the three doubles matches although they had to fight hard at #1 and #2 to earn the win.  Isabella Sella and Saki Kawabata combined for an 8-4 win at #1, while Kelly Jachymowski and Anna Okolot paired up to outlast their opponents 9-7 at #2.  Yulia Prokopyshyn and Jemina Lynn Sorman dominated the #3 doubles match and posted an 8-0 decision.

In singles play, Kawabata recorded a 6-0, 6-4 win at #1 and Sella followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #2.  Jachymowski controlled the #3 match to the tune of a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Sorman earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at #4.  Okolot picked up the win at #5 by a 6-0, 6-1 score and Prokopyshyn closed out the dual with a 6-3, 6-3 win at #6.

Upper Iowa will face a pair of NCAA Division I foes this coming weekend, Mar. 25-26.  The Peacocks will take the court against the Panthers of the University of Northern Iowa on Friday at the Blackhawk Tennis Center in Waterloo, Iowa at 10 a.m. and then head to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Bulldogs of Drake University at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Saturday at 10 a.m.
