The Osaka, Japan native went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, winning 24 games over the two matches compared to just seven games won by her opponents. At No. 1 doubles, Kawabata teamed with
Kelly Jachymowski to pick up a pair of 8-3 wins against the No.1 doubles teams from Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.
Upper Iowa is 6-2 against the Mavericks since 2008 and has won the last two in the series. The Peacocks have beaten the Mustangs in each of the last eight meetings, including a 9-0 victory last year.
