PEACOCK STORYLINES...
RE-WRITING HISTORY: Upper Iowa re-wrote multiple school records as a member of NCAA Division II over the weekend. UIU swept Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State on the road to improve to 4-0 in the NSIC, which is the best start in league play since joining the Northern Sun in 2006. The team's current six-game winning streak is the longest such streak since the 1998-99 season when UIU went 23-5 under Head Coach Stu Engen. Upper Iowa also connected on a new Division II program-record 71.4% (15-21) from the three-point line and scored a season-high 92 points on Friday at Concordia-St. Paul. UIU picked up just their second ever win against MSU on Saturday, outscoring the Mavericks 52-18 in the paint.
NSIC SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Redshirt senior
Jordan Hay led the way for Upper Iowa  last weekend averaging 17 points a game en route to NSIC South Player of the Week. Hay scored a career-high 23 points on Friday at CSP, and led the team in rebounding with 6 boards in each of the games as well. The Stanwood, Iowa native converted 72.2% (13-17) from the field in the two games and knocked down his first three-pointer of the season. The forward rounded out his stat line with 4 blocks and 5 assists in the pair of NSIC road games.
NINTH IN THE REGION: Upper Iowa is currently ranked ninth in the latest Division II Central Region Poll Sponsored by D2SIDA. The Peacocks are one of four NSIC teams in the poll, behind MSU Moorhead (2), Augustana (3), and Southwest Minnesota State (4).
BALANCED ATTACK: Opposing head coaches are having trouble game planning for the Peacock offense as of late. In both games over the weekend, UIU had five different players score at least 10 points in both games over the weekend.
Jordan Hay and
Luke Lenhart have put up double-figures in each of the last five games, while
Dennis Austin III and
Josh Weeber have put up 10 or more in the last three games.
Carson Parker has scored in double-digits in the last two ballgames.
50/5-0 SITUATION: Upper Iowa is currently 5-0 on the season when they shoot 50% or more from the field. All five of those games have come during the current-six game winning streak. The red-hot shooting Peacocks are averaging 49.5% from the field including a pair of games this season converting at least half of their three-point tries. UIU is converting 38.9% of their shots from behind the arc on the year.
