Upper Iowa's tennis team lost a hard fought battle to the Vikings of Augustana College in Winona, Minn. on Sunday.  Augie claimed the dual between the Northern Sun Conference's two undefeated teams by a 9-0 count handing the Peacocks their first NSIC loss of the season.  With the win the Vikings improved to 16-2 and 9-0 in the conference, while UIU falls to 10-5 and 8-1 in the NSIC.

The teams' number one tag teams battled each other to an 8-8 tie before Jessa Richards and Sydney Postal won the tiebreaker 7-3 to claim a 9-8 victory over Iris Verweij and Saki Kawabata.  Yamit Vodavoz and Victoria Kulbokas matched their opponents through most of the doubles match at number two, but fell by an 8-5 count to Berkley Darr and Heather Sullivan.  Jenna Helleberg and Meredith Lawrence secured the sweep in doubles with an 8-2 win at number three over Kelly Jachymowski and Anna Okolot.
 
Kawabata and Vodavoz both won the second set of their matches at number two and three, respectively, forcing a tie breaker, but Kawabata lost 10-4 and Vodavoz dropped the tiebreaker 10-8.  Verweij and Okolot nearly pulled off wins in the second set of their matches at number one and four, but each lost the second frame by 7-5 counts.
 
Upper Iowa will close out their NSIC regular season on Apr. 11-12 in Moorhead, Minn.  The Peacocks will face the University of Mary and Minnesota State University Moorhead to wrap up their run in the conference.
