The Peacock tennis team improved to 5-3 on the year and remained undefeated in the Northern Sun Conference at 3-0 with a 9-0 shutout of the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday in Winona, Minn. Upper Iowa returned to the Winona Tennis Center and took down an NSIC opponent without surrendering a match. UIU has now won all 27 matches they have stepped onto the court for in conference play.
UIU won all three doubles matches with the closest match taking place at #1. Iris Verweij and Saki Kawabata outlasted their opponents for the 8-5 victory. Upper Iowa dominated the doubles matches at #2 and #3.
In singles competition, Upper Iowa swept the six matches and all were decisive victories except at #4. Anna Okolot battled at the number four spot to pick up the 7-6, 7-5 win over Lisa Dobbelaere.
The Peacocks will be back on the court tomorrow against Southwest Minnesota State University in Winona, Minn.
