The Peacock tennis team followed up their first sweep in two years with another, this time against Bemidji State, too wrap up a perfect weekend in Winona, Minn. UIU heads home having won 30 of the 31 sets played and won all 18 matches.
In doubles play Sunday, Upper Iowa's No. 1 tandem of
Iris Verweij and
Saki Kawabata won 8-4, while the other two doubles pairings blanked their opponent, 8-0 at No. 2 and it was 7-0 at No. 3 doubles before the Bemidji State team was forced to retire.Â
Among the singles matches, UIU controlled the play for the majority of the matches with the exception of No. 2 singles. Kawabata dropped the first set 6-3 to Deanie Hatch, but rebounded to win the second set 6-0 and the tie-breaker 10-6.
Bemidji State picked up its lone victory on the day in an exhibition match between BSU's Jess Dulz and UIU's
Breanna Heichert, 8-6. Â
