On Thursday, Jan. 29, Upper Iowa University and the Peacock tennis program received a visit from Danielle Dotzenrod of the Tennis Channel. Dotzenrod was filming a section of the Tour Guide series that appears worldwide on the Tennis Channel.
Dotzenrod used the courts in the UIU Recreation Center to hit some balls with members of the Peacock tennis team while shooting scenes for an upcoming episode of Tour Guide.
The Peacocks' guest is a native of northeast Iowa; she grew up in Spillville and graduated in 1997 from South Winneshiek High School. After a 13-year run as a resident of Los Angeles, Calif., Dotzenrod returned home two years ago and opened Dotzy's Restaurant and Saloon in Elgin.
Despite moving back to northeast Iowa, Dotzenrod has retained her duties with the Tennis Channel as the host of two series; Fit to Hit and Tour Guide. Dotzenrod has also appeared at the French Open as a correspondent for primetime show French Open Tonight.
Tennis Channel uses the series Tour Guide to take viewers out on tour with the ATP & WTA and the glamorous cities they visit around the globe. Tour Guide gives viewers a VIP, behind-the-scenes look at everything the tournament has to offer including featured interviews with the stars of game on what they love most about the tour event and the cities we visit. This dynamic new series on Tennis Channel shows fans how to get the most out of their dream tennis vacation both on and off the courts.
The Peacock tennis team gets their spring season started in just over a week as they will face the Bluejays of Creighton University and the Panthers of the University of Northern Iowa in Waterloo, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8.
