Upper Iowa dominated their dual on Friday night to the tune of a 45-0 shutout of the Marauders of the University of Mary. The Peacocks won all ten matches including four by fall, five by decision and one by forfeit. Three of the falls came in succession from 157 to 174 pounds and blew the match wide open. With the win, UIU improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Sun, while U-Mary falls to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Peacocks claimed a win by forfeit at 125 pounds to start the dual and then doubled their lead to 12-0 when
Matt Paulus toed the line and earned a win by fall (0:52) less than a minute into the match after a takedown and three nearfall points.
Jordan Roths followed up with a 7-1 decision at 141 pounds claiming a takedown, a reversal and two nearfall points. The lead grew to 18-0 after the 149 pound bout when
Trevor Duke secured an 11-6 decision thanks to four takedowns and a pair of escapes.
Following a short break, the Peacocks returned to the mat on a mission to dominate. Upper Iowa got three straight wins by fall in the 157, 165 and 174 pound matches as
Jordan Rinken (3:54),
Colbey Vance (4:24) and
Dalton Westerlund (2:46) all claimed bonus-point wins and doubled the home team's lead from 18-0 to 36-0.
After the final break,
Blake Sorensen (8-2),
Ricky Briggs (5-4) and
Logan Hopp (7-4) all picked up wins by decision to close out the match and give Upper Iowa the 45-0 win.
Upper Iowa recorded 18 takedowns on the night, while only surrendering one to the Marauders. The Peacocks also claimed a 5-1 advantage in reversals and a 9-0 count in nearfalls including 6 3-point nearfalls.

Heath Grimm, now in his fifteenth season at the helm of the UIU program, the Peacocks have posted 11 shutouts in eight different seasons. Upper Iowa defeated Knox College 54-0 and Illinois College 57-0 in Grimm's first year at the helm. The Peacocks defeated UNC Pembroke 47-0 at the National Duals in 2006, Northern State University 45-0 in an NSIC dual in 2007, a perfect 60-0 shutout of Wagner in 2009 at the Sprawl and Brawl Duals and a 41-0 NSIC dual win over MSU Moorhead in 2010. Two years ago, the Peacocks defeated Waldorf College, 53-0, and last season, UIU claimed three shutouts including wins over Hannibal-LaGrange, 58-0, Calumet College, 57-0, and Northern State, 47-0.
Upper Iowa will be back on the mat in Dorman Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. The Peacocks will welcome the Wolves of Northern State University.
