Recap

One day after falling to one of the best teams in the conference, the Upper Iowa Women's Tennis team bounced back with a slim 5-4 victory over the University of Sioux Falls. The teams met at Sioux Falls Empire Fitness and UIU escaped with the win thanks to victories at #1 and #2 in doubles and 1 through 3 in singles play. The win pushes the Peacocks' record back to .500 this season at 2-2.

Saki Kawabata and Iris Verweij got off to a hot start with an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles over the Cougars' Joey Bosch and Stacey Beard. UIU followed that up with another 8-4 victory at no. 2 doubles, this one coming from Victoria Kulbokas and Kelly Jachymowski. The duo defeated Emily Erickson and Molly Seigenthaler for USF.

The Cougars bounced back with a strong 8-0 victory at #3 doubles, thanks to the effort of Kara Bunkers and Abby Seigenthaler. The Peacocks weren't going to let the Cougars comeback though. En route to the victory, UIU claimed the first three singles matches, ensuring the victory in South Dakota.

Kawabata earned a pair of 6-2 victories at No. 1 singles and improved to 3-1 on the year in singles play. Then, Verweij followed suit with two wins, 6-0 and 6-3 to give UIU a 4-1 team lead. Kulbokas finished off the Cougars with a win at #3, but it took three sets to do so. Kulbokas earned the first win, 6-4, before dropping the second, 5-7. In the ten-point tiebreaker, Kulbokas gave Upper Iowa the advantage thanks to an 11-9 win. The Peacocks dropped the final three singles matches, but USF was already defeated.

The Peacocks have now started 2-2 in conference play for the second straight year.
