Recap

The Upper Iowa women's tennis team is in Sioux Falls, S.D. this weekend for a pair of NSIC duals with Augustana and Sioux Falls. On Saturday, the Peacocks lined up against the Vikings and nearly took a pair of doubles and fought hard through the singles matches. In the end, the home team proved to be too much posting the 9-0 win.

Saki Kawabata and Iris Verweij got up a break point in the #1 doubles match, but lost an 8-5 decision, while Victoria Kulbokas and Kelly Jachymowski nearly pulled off the upset at #2. The pair lost their match 8-6. Augustana picked up the final doubles victory by an 8-0 count to take a 3-0 lead into the singles matches.

Augustana claimed all six singles matches although Kulbokas made her oppenent work for every point at #3 singles. The UIU freshman dropped the match in straight sets, but pushed Augie's Francesca Beg to the limit. Beg won the match 7-6, 7-5.

Next Up

Upper Iowa will continue their early run through the NSIC early Sunday morning. The team will stay in Sioux Falls and challenge the Cougars of USF at 9 a.m.
