Despite the Marauders snapping a three-game UIU win streak with a slim 5-4 win, Verweij and doubles partner Saki Kawabata teamed up for UIU's solo doubles win, 8-6. The freshman followed that up with a 7-6 victory in game one at #1 singles before finishing off her opponent with a 6-0 win in the second game.

On Sunday, the team got back to winning ways and Verweij continued her strong play. Again, UIU counted on Kawabata and Verweij to lead UIU to a doubles victory as the duo defeated their MSUM counterparts, 8-2. The Amsterdam , Netherlands native then capped her perfect weekend record as she earned a pair of wins at #1 singles, 6-0 and 6-4.

The weekend split for the tennis team gives UIU a 5-3 NSIC record this year and the Peacocks have won four of their last five matches. Kawabata also posted a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend, while Kelly Jachymowski wasn't far behind with a 3-1 record.
