Looking to earn back-to-back wins for the first time this season, the Peacocks battled it out with Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon in Minnesota. UIU took a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles play and handed BSU the 7-2 loss by taking four of the six singles matches.

Saki Kawabata brought their season record to 2-1 thanks to an 8-1 victory at #1 doubles. Meanwhile,Â

Kelly Jachymowski teamed up for an 8-2 victory at # 2 doubles. Rounding out doubles play,

Laura Alvarez earned an 8-4 victory at # 3 as the Peacocks rode a wave of momentum into singles competition.Â
UIU wrapped up the win thanks to victories at # 1, # 2, # 3, and at # 5. Verweij, Kawabata and Kulbokas all defeated their Beaver competitor, while Winnie also took down her BSU opponent. Verweij earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory, while Kawabata defeated her opponent, 6-1 and 6-3. Kulbokas collected a pair of 6-1 victories, while Winnie took her match to a tiebreaker. The freshman Peacock earned an opening set 6-1 victory before falling 4-6 in set number two. Winnie then sealed the victory with a 10-6 tie-breaker. Â

The 7-2 victory gives the Peacocks some momentum heading into their next matchup.
